Spring 2026 Planting
Welcome to the blog! How is everyone doing?
Today we are talking about starting our spring sowing! To be completely honest, I came by
completely exhausted after working, but I really wanted to publish and share these updates with all
of you.
This season is packed with variety and green joy. Here is what we are planting:
Tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes (natural varieties we have been improving) and beefsteak round
tomatoes
(large ones we saved to try out).
Cucurbits: A hybrid squash between Kabutia and Anco/Butternut (a family favorite that my
grandmother
loves for soups and purees), organic Anco squashes, and a traditional Kabutia.
Regarding space planning: the Anco squash will grow climbing up the arch like every year,
while all
the other crops will be planted in pots.

Step-by-Step Sowing Guide 🛠️🌱 To provide the best possible growing medium, we mixed a substrate total volume of 7.5 liters with the following proportions:
40% Peat Moss (~3 liters) for lightweight moisture retention. 20% Earthworm Castings from our home compost (1.5 liters) for natural nutrition. 20% Commercial Compost (1.5 liters) to enhance organic content. 20% Perlite (1.5 liters) to ensure proper aeration and drainage.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a large tub and fill the seedling pots.
Place seeds into designated pots: hybrid squash, Kabutia, Anco, cherry, and beefsteak tomatoes.
Cover the seeds with the remaining substrate mixture. Move the pots into the greenhouse. Give them a thorough watering to settle the soil and kickstart germination. Now, we wait for them to sprout! Stay tuned for future updates.
