A crucial step is to carefully remove a small section of the green "skin" of the stem, exposing the cambium (the tissue that transports nutrients). This will stimulate root formation.

Place the cutting in a container with water (filled to about one-eighth of its capacity) and ensure the container is covered to maintain darkness, as this promotes root germination in citrus.
