Autumn: 2026
🌱 Natural Farming: Coleus
Good morning!
Today we'll talk about an ornamental plant that I'm
sure many know and love: the Cretona. It's a plant
with vibrant and colorful foliage that brightens up
any corner. But today we'll focus on something very
important for its health and longevity: pruning its
flowers!
I know it can be sad to cut those delicate and
beautiful flowers, but it's essential for the
plant's survival. When the Cretona blooms, it spends
a lot of energy producing seeds, and if left on the
plant, it can die after flowering. By cutting the
flowers, we redirect the plant's energy towards the
growth of new leaves and roots, strengthening it so
that it can continue to show off its beautiful
foliage.

I myself, for many years, made cuttings of my Cretonas at this time because I lost the plants. Now I understand why. By not pruning the flowers, the plant was exhausted and could not survive. So don't be afraid to prune! Your Cretonas will thank you. In addition, with the arrival of the cold, it's important to protect the Cretona cuttings that we have made to ensure they survive and grow strong. In other news, today or tomorrow I will harvest two pumpkins and a butternut squash! I love seeing the fruits of my garden.
Well, I'm saying goodbye for today! In the next post I will show you the cleaning of the pumpkin plant, the harvest, and photos of this year's production. Don't miss it!
